Who We Are

Mission Statement

In the Spirit of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton, Seton Center, Inc.'s mission is to work with our neighbors to build a hopeful future.

Vision Statement

Seton Center strives to be a leading community resource for the residents of Northern Frederick County. We provide emergency support services and serve as a catalyst for systemic change.

Seton Center, Inc. is a non-profit, social service ministry sponsored and staffed by the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul, local residents and a myriad of volunteers. The Center provides emergency services and life-skill learning to under-resourced members of the community within the framework of the core values of the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul: respect, quality service, simplicity, advocacy, and creativity.

“Charity is not charity if not accompanied by justice.”   ~ St. Vincent DePaul

Seton Center is committed to serving each client and customer with great hospitality and respect. We believe in the true meaning of charity, which is love. Whether the need is advocacy, information, material or financial aid, or just a really great bargain, we seek to meet these needs with integrity so that all those seeking charity find an experience of love.

What We Do

Many of the families Seton Center serves are working people living at or below the poverty level or without other resources needed to thrive. Often times people who work hard to be self-sufficient find that even a minor emergency can result in unpaid bills or loss of housing.

The Outreach Office helps meet these needs by offering supportive human services such as: case management, referrals, educational and financial literacy tutoring/mentoring and emergency financial assistance with rent, utilities, medical/dental care and essential transportation costs.

Seton Center also operates a high-quality thrift shop called Seton Family Store that attracts customers from all walks of life. Low prices and convenient location ensure that those with limited incomes have a place to meet their basic needs. Antique dealers and collectors regularly drop by to find great deals on vintage and name brand items. Seton Family Store serves approximately 12,000 customers per year. Items sold are generously donated by individuals and organizations in our communities. 100% of the Family Store sale proceeds are used to support our Outreach Office programs and services.
